DIY Pizza Box Cooker (Hallmark 2007)

Hallmark Channel’s New Morning show visits the Dervaes family urban homestead. This family has started a homegrown revolution by being the change they wish to see by living the solution. On today’s show urban homesteader, Anais, show us how to build a simple sun oven using a pizza box. With this diy sun oven you can use the sun’s free energy to cook your own food. 2. lolrofl1000 says:

use black construction paper instead of black paint for the bottom of the box…much more non toxic lol

Great idea! I’m going to try this project this summer when it is too hot to use my indoor oven. Thanks for sharing! =)

  5. Ergock says:

o, ok if your that worried you also better stop breathing too, all cars produce the same gas.

  6. ratheads says:

You are correct, this paint will work for hi temps, however they will not not pass an fda inspection applied to internal oven surfaces, you are missing the point, paints OUTGASS volitile substances when temps rise, even after curing, these hi temp paints flake off and can contaminate baked items.

You go to the store anyway so you just get it when you go…no waste of gas.
    Everything gets thrown away eventually.
Using it over and over offsets the original production energy.
If everybody didn’t use the oven for that 5 minutes, there would be a huge energy savings.
    Also, it’s a survival item.

I think I would use more energy driving to the store getting the products….also you are going to have to throw that away after a while so there is trash…if you do not recycle it all….not to include the energy it took to manufacture the items you are using….sooooooo I will stick to a few mins in the oven.
