Ah, ok, getting the hang of this, and I sure appreciate the reply. I have never dabbled with this, it seems a bit daunting at the start. Yes, one day my gadget will be here! What confused me was I think I saw some folks using camera stuff/ uv lighting. Thank you again.

For HTT method you need positive MIRRORED image of PCB.
After toner transfer traces of future circuit are protected by toner. At this stage you can correct problem spots or add missing details on board with permanent marker.
    Etching solution removes exposed/uncovered copper.
Next steps. Remove toner/marker and clean board with acetone or alcohol, drill holes, solder components, make video of your gadget and post it here. ;-)

Ok, help! I’m a bit confused here-very new to this and trying to make my way in on a shoestring budget. With regard to the circuit, must or should it be in a negative form? From what I could figure by watching, what you used was not a negative for transfer. I know my question sounds very silly,, but I’m asking: You can go direct to the board with this? I liked what you were doing-any help much appreciated! Liked the trance music, as well.

    Very good

All chemicals and prototyping material should be available at any hobby electronic store.
    Check list of distributors at
    mgchemicals(dot)com
and select one closest to you.
Also you can order stuff you need from Digikey.

so i know a few people have asked where you got the chemicals, but I’ve looked all over the interent and local stores and I can’t find anything. Where did you get the FR4 board, how much was it, and where did you get the ferric chloride, how much was that?

    Thanks for the Tutorial.

  8. APDigitalLight says:

You can use permanent marker for fast prototyping of simple circuits.
For professionally looking board with 20 mill wide tracks you need to use HTT or photosensitive method

All chemicals came from local electronic store.

    Alright questions for you..

    1) Do you have to use that printed paper you did in the video. Ive seen other videos where guys just use a black marker and draw out there connections.

    2) Where do you find all these chemicals. Online or local stores?

  10. APDigitalLight says:

It’s usually available at most electronic stores.
Check list of distributors at manufacturer web site:
    mgchemicals(dot)com

    where to find liquid tin?

  12. Hendrix4eva says:

    lots of chemicals involved lol

  13. iflymyhelishigh says:

alright. thanks for the reply :)

  14. APDigitalLight says:

Keep iron flat. Try not to “dig” into board.

  15. iflymyhelishigh says:

Nice. I see where I went wrong, cleaning the board. Haha thanks.

My photo paper has a heat sensitive backing, and when I layer a paper towel between the back and my iron, it always seems to rip when I use my tip. Do you have any suggestions?

What is the music? Did you make it? I think whoever made it made it in FL Studio, and I’d like to know. It seems a little cornyish with the Eurogate, and I’d like to see if I could find the file to do a remix. No offense to whoever wrote it.

    thank you!

It’s showing cheap method of manufacturing of printed circuit boards for hobby projects.
That’s how I made PCB for laser spirograph.

  18. APDigitalLight says:

    Yes. It works very well.
In project file place two or four index dots outside of PCB’s border.
Print one side of PCB. Attach paper to copper board and drill index dots through paper and copper.
Print second side of PCB and poke hole in index dots.
Attach paper to opposite side of copper board and match holes.
Then follow tutorial, iron one side of copper board then another…

    what exactly does this do

  20. Techwizard12 says:

Okay I have a question..would this method work on a double sided circuit….

  21. llewgnal says:

Nice pcb, love the tin ,I am useing cool amp powder to silver plate the boards.
Just made dbl sided pcb with photo resist pcb.came out good. Good Luck

  22. APDigitalLight says:

No. This method employs physical property of laser printer’s toner.

Toner it’s a fine, black plastic powder which melts and sticks to paper while it’s heating by fuser inside printer.

Printing process can be reversed by applying heat to paper, so toner will melt and stick to adjacent surface of copper plate.
After removing/dissolving of paper we’ll get mirrored image transferred onto copper.

can I use an Inkjet Printer?

  24. joiner19236 says:

    liquid tin:

    * Provides excellent solderability
    * Protects against oxidation
    * No mixing or dilution required
    * For commercial/industrial use only
    * 3600 square inches per half litre

  25. joiner19236 says:

    really no.

Not that I’m impressed a lot, but this is a lot more than I expected when I stumpled upon a link on Digg telling that the info is awesome. Thanks.
